Stop/Postpone the current Accomodation Revew
In the Spring of 2004, the Bluewater District School undertook a review of its existing schools and capacity levels to determine how to best allocate resources & students. This allocation is balanced between the need for funding (keeping schools at minimum 80% capacity to ensure adequate funding)and the needs of the students. The current proposal, put forth by the SCC representatives suggests that all French Immersion students be moved from their existing locations to Bayview School, which is currently under capacity. In order to do this, the Board has indicated that they believe it is acceptable to: 1) Put Bayview at or near 100% capacity 2) Bus/transport an additional 200 students to the small 6th St A East receiving area. 3) Put school capacity so high that students will never be able to have an \'all-school\' assembly (based on fire code load for gymnasium). We believe there are better solutions that do not come at the expense of the Bayview community. We believe these alternative proposals are better for all groups involved.
