Sam the Record Man has played an integral role in the development of Canadian music talent since 1937, by promoting and selling Canadian artists on consignment; a tradition that continues in Belleville to this day. Millions of Canadians from coast-to-coast cherish their memories of hours spent in Sam's stores, discovering music. Eleanor McMahon, Ontario Minister of Tourism Culture and Sport, oversees the program that has denied the last Sam the Record Man's request for tourism signage on Ontario highways.
