Please sign our petition to call on Lancaster University to ADAPT their current mental health system and provisions which currently continuously fails students. Lancaster University was ranked 79/80 for their mental health services in the HUMEN mental health league tables 2022 which is appalling and we, as students, are calling on the university to ADAPT their services so students are getting the correct support they need and deserve.

Our five demands (ADAPT) form the direction of our campaign and outline the adjustments that we are calling to be made to the Lancaster University mental health provisions.

APPROACHABILITY:

We are campaigning for...

1. Clear information on where councillors are being outsourced from with images of councillors or their company.

2. More readily accessible information online and through the student portal.

3. The use of social media to create a more approachable way for students to access the support they need.

DIRECTION:

We are campaigning for...

1. Clear signposts to university provided services on the university website

2. Clearly provided locations of in person counselling services

3. Clear signposting to external agencies and a variety of different types of these

ACCESIBILITY:

We are campaigning for...

1. Mental health services to reach all backgrounds and language.

2. Cultural differences to be acknowledged in the support given

3. Minimise the number of links and effort needed to read and understand the website

PRECISION:

We are campaigning for...

1. Information provided by the university to be accurate and updated regularly, particularly outdated covid

2. Online links to be direct and easy to find

3. A clear distinction to be made between different services, including wellbeing compared to mental health resources

TRANSPARENCY:

We are campaigning for...

1. Clear information on how the system works: qualifications, training and funding should be available to view

2. Clearer guidelines on confidentiality and when departments or parents will be told

3. Open information about wait times, especially in different times of year and days of the week.
