Against BHS Late Start
This change in school time will greatly affect all students that participate in extra curricular activities. If the school time is pushed back, athletic practices would either be before, or after the school day. With athletic practices before school, and each practice two and a half to three hours, students will have to wake up even earlier than they have to already, with the 7:20 am start. Plus, underclassmen without a license, or people without the ability to drive themselves, will not possibly have the chance to be driven to school for their athletic practices or educational needs before school starts, if both of their parents work. To sum everything up, later starts will just push back everyone’s schedules by about an hour and a half. This means students will go to bed even later, and sleep for the same amount of hours. Students that have to work after school will just have to work later (because of the late end), to make up for the time lost as well. The latest start that would not effect students in an overwhelming way would be a start at around 8:00 am.
