We, the undersigned, strongly object to the proposed BC ambulance station on Carrick Street. It is completely inappropriate to embed a temporary ambulance station in a panhandle lot on community-valued greenspace within a quiet, residential, family neighbourhood replete with traffic-calming devices and other issues of public safety. We call upon our elected officials, BC Ambulance Service, VIHA, and BC Hydro as land owner to base our emergency health services on sites more appropriate, permanent and safe.

The BC Ambulance Service plans to establish a Carrick Street station on the green space between Haultain and Kings.
Ambulances would travel a long driveway between houses on Dean Street to leave the recessed station. They would use narrow roads that lack sidewalks and face local traffic calming devices, including islands, speed bumps, and turning medians.
If the ambulance service is allowed to proceed, this will set a precedent for our province: stations on green spaces and in the heart of wholly residential B.C. neighbourhoods.
Take this opportunity to join the citizens of the Saanich panhandle area of Victoria B.C. and voice the opinion that our emergency services be based from sites more appropriate, permanent and safe.
