Appeal from Parents of Students, Sree Gokulam Public School, GVR.
We, the parents of Students studying in the Sree Gokulam Public School, Guruvayour, would like to bring the following points to the management to consider and act upon.
Context:
#In the wake of the pandemic COVID-19 and followed lockdown worldwide, caused many of the parents jobless. It is a situation many of us have never been faced with and worst affected financially. As we know, many of the Governments, Institutions and organizations taking initiatives to consider waiving off a part of debts / liabilities of its stakeholders as relaxation of financial struggle.
#We would like to request The School management to follow the suit by revising the current fees structure with theConsent of the parents. We strongly feel that there is a scope of reduction in fees considering the fact that The School need not provide the services for the fees, which are collected towards non-teaching expenses, especially the particulars listed under 'Common Fees'.
#Concerns about the quality of teaching that the parents have been trying to bring in to The School’s notice for last couple of years.
Scope: All the parents who are signed this petition have the same opinion and do not need to convey the same points to the management individually.
Scope: Any of the parent who has signed this petition, has the right to have a dialogue with the School management on behalf of the other parents on the below points. We would like to restrict our physical presence in the school as per the guidelines of Government of Kerala.
Scope: The below points can be used to initiate the dialogue with The School management and The School management cannot treat the points as the final since there are many more points need to be discussed to improve the quality of education, facility and attitude of the management towards the parents.
In the event of present situation as stated in the ‘Context’ section above, we appeal The School management to act up on the following points by having a healthy dialogue with the parents.
#1. All the fees, which are usually accounted for using the facility of school including fee for ID card, shall be waived off since the students are not physically present at The School and not using the facility for which the fee is paid for.
#2. There shall be at least 50% deduction in Tuition Fee since teaching is not going on even its average levels even considering the limitation of online teaching. In the case of many of the standards, the usual 8 periods of teaching a day have been reduced to just 2 periods of teaching by The School management. The fees for non-teaching hours shall be consider to be waived off.
#3. Quality of education shall be improved. There should be continues effort to improve the quality of teaching and extra-curricular activities, which we don’t see from The School management.
It’s very disappointing to see that the feedbacks and valid complaints from the parents are often ignored and no attempts are made to have a healthy relationship with the concerned parents by the responsible entities.
#4. Our understanding is that “According to the new affiliation bylaws, no society or trust or company or school shall charge capitation fee or accept donations for the purpose of admission for pupils.” In contradiction to the above, we learnt that the School has already collected donations from the new joiners. The context of collecting illegal payments shall be considered as a serious point for a dialogue with the parents.
#5. Forming a P.T.A to bring the parents' appeals and suggestions is required. The school management should initiate the process of forming the P.T.A at the earliest.
Faithfully,
Parents - Sree Gokulam Public School, Guruvayour.
