We, the undersigned, are concerned the creative and performing arts provision at Burtonwood Community Primary School is being de-prioritised. The positive impact of art, drama and music on children is well established. It boosts confidence, self-expression, sparks imagination and enables them to develop creative skills that are the building blocks of future prosperity and improved wellbeing. We would like to see the retention and, ideally, continued development of the school's arts provision starting with the reinstatement (or, if this is not possible, replacement) of Mr Corcoran who leads the curriculum-based art classes as well as the excellent (and very popular) extracurricular Splash sessions.
