The board finally agreed to revise the parking guidelines and move forward with the changes we demanded. It was a long road to get them to acknowledge our concerns, but we held firm and forced them to the table. Stay vigilant to ensure these new rules are actually implemented as …

This petition is to obtain signatures of Lot owners whom have concerns with the recent parking guidelines within the Ashburn Square community, and wish to have a special meeting with the board members to discuss the following.

1. Guest parking spots
2. Lot owners having more than 2 vehicles
3. Motorcycle parking
4. Parking in someone else driveway (with their permission)
5. Guest Parking passes
6. Commercial vehicles

I sent an email to the management company with 100 signatures. The following is the response I received.

Thank you for your email and for bringing the petition forward. Unfortunately, there are only 56 valid signatures. The requirement was one fourth of the voting interests of the Association. This means one fourth of the lots. Signatures are one per lot. Only one owner signature is recognized. Also there were many signatures that cannot be verified as homeowners through the official records of the Association nor in the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser records. The foregoing being said, a special meeting of the membership cannot be called. Please note that had there been sufficient valid signatures, 15 day written notice would have been required in order for it to be held. The earliest date would have been after the regularly scheduled Board Meeting.

The items mentioned on the petition would not require a special membership meeting as there isn’t anything for the membership to vote on. The enforcement of the Declaration is a board of director responsibility and the policy is a board decision. The Board of Directors is keenly aware of the sentiments of some residents regarding the parking enforcement and policy. I will request that they consider this at their next meeting.

Also please see our new Facebook page. Please keep the comments clean and professional, I would hate to have the site shut down.

The management company rejected our list by claiming many of us do not count toward their threshold. It is exhausting to fight through their layers of bureaucracy just to be heard about our own driveways. I am currently verifying the records myself because I refuse to let them dismiss our concerns so easily.

The response from management was cold but seeing this much backing from the neighborhood gives me a reason to keep fighting. It is draining to see our concerns brushed aside so easily by the board. We are not backing down until they actually sit down and listen to us.

These new guidelines make it even more harsh to live here. We OWN these homes, this is not a college dorm!! How can these homes have 3 bedrooms and then for the association to just say we can only have 2 cars?? Ridiculous

What they need to do is turn the back of the community where they didn't finish building homes into a parking lot and place more lighting in the community. This new parking standards are totally ridiculous. I fell like this is an apartment complex as oppose to community where I'm a HOME OWNER.

A better option would be to assign each townhome owner one guest parking permit a piece to use how they please on a first come, first serve basis. Or sell parking permits for monthly parking and with the revenue they can add more parking spaces.

I have seen the towing company "patrolling" the neighborhood all weekend, dozens of times. It feels like we are in prison and guards are circling to keep us in line. Also, check out the BBB rating on this towing company, F. They are crooks and should not even be allowed on our streets.

We as homeowners were stated to us when we purchased in Ashburn Sq. that we have at least 2/parking spaces. one inside the garage and one in our driveway. My driveway is my private parking and I can let me or my guests park at any time without passes. Joanne
