AU Students for the Right to Work
We the undersigned students and faculty are concerned about the recent unionization of our adjunct faculty. Not only will this action raise costs to students through increased tuition, it infringes on the right to work of individual adjunct faculty who will be priced out of the market. AU prides itself on having many unique adjunct faculty members who are professionals in other fields and come to AU to bring real world experience to students. This is an amazing advantage that AU students have and we don't want to lose this. Finally, with only 23% of faculty voting in favor of unionization we feel this vote does not accurately reflect the will of the faculty and think some sort of follow-up is necessarily. We urge the administration to challenge this decision and to consider the concerns of students and those faculty who did not vote or voted no. We also ask the administration to consider opening the issue to a town hall style meeting to hear the concerns that many students have.
