Many volunteers and sympathetic animal lovers are sad and outraged knowing that the Buddy Foundation allows its cats to be declawed once adopted. Declawing is a cruel process which leaves cats permanently maimed. It can cause health problems and lifelong behavioral problems. Several states and countries around the world have already banned declawing or are moving toward a ban, and more and more veterinarians have stopped offering the procedure. We, the undersigned believe that the Buddy Foundation, as a respected member of the animal sheltering community, should show by example its real commitment to caring for cats by changing its stance on declawing.
