As an assistant head teacher of a primary school with 10 years teaching under my belt, I believe that giving primary school aged pupils homework is pointless and wrong for the following reasons:
1. It causes stress for parents.
2. Children should be free to have spare time to play and be children with the pressure and pace of school these days.
3. Many children take part in after school activities which already takes up lots of their time out of school,
4. It is impossible to set at the right level because some parents want challenging homework and others want homework the children can do easily.
5. The children that would most benefit from extra work, never do it anyway.
