Cons of uniforms:

• Costly
  • Average $250 per child, per year
  • Children need casual clothes for when they're not in school
• Violates the right to freedom of expression
• Does not allow for individuality
• Not statistically proven to decrease violence or promote discipline
• Does not allow students to learn to make good choices
• Children with body-image issues compare themselves with others. Uniforms make this easier to do, detrimental to kids of any age.
• Parents have the right to buy/choose their children clothes to wear.
• Do not prepare children for the adult world. Seeking an identity is a critical stage of adolescence according to Erik Erikson.
