This petition is being signed in the hopes to get the City of Allen in Texas to ban scooter riders, or any other sport that is already not aloud in the Allen Edge Skatepark. On the Allen Parks and Recreation website, it CLEARLY states there are only skateboards, rollerblades, and BMX bikes admitted into the park (see http://www.cityofallen.org/parks/Skatepark%20rules.htm) but there are still kids riding these scooters in the park. Such reasons as to get rid of scooters from the skatepark go as far as: 1. It\'s already a rule! Why not enforce it There are ALWAYS cops around the premises of the park and there seems to be nothing done about the foul language of the kids who ride scooters. 2. The concrete and metal ramps are being cracked, and worn down due to the hard metal surface on the bottom of the scooters. As opposed to rollerblades, who have soft plastic or rubber grinding shields, BMX bikes who have covers on their grinding pegs when entering the park, and skateboards have soft wood used to grind against metal rails and ramp coping. 3. I, personally have been run into about 1,000 times by careless scooter riders who don\'t EVER watch where they are going, and this is a HUGE problem to most observant parents and small children in the park, because there is always injuries taking place from the cause of the scooter riders. 4. Again, I personally go to this great skatepark everyday and have for the past two years, and there is always a fight going on (ask the policemen!) that is being either caused by carelessness or trash-talking of the scooter riding type. I am only 13 years old and as all of my friends parents would not like me to be in such an environment where crimes and violence go on, just because of a few kids riding on scooters. Just think about the even smaller children of ages 3-9.
