Poppy the rescued lurcher ran into barbed wire in woods next to a footpath, leaving her with her shoulder and leg stripped to the bone. She will need repeated surgery and skin grafts, three month's rest and physiotherapy. The emergency vet who treated Poppy said it was the worst injury he had seen in twenty years of practice. Councils, parks and farmers continue to use barbed wire for what seems like no good reason, putting walkers and animals at risk. We would like to see it banned, and soon.
