Poppy the rescued lurcher ran into barbed wire in woods next to a footpath, leaving her with her shoulder and leg stripped to the bone. She will need repeated surgery and skin grafts, three month's rest and physiotherapy. The emergency vet who treated Poppy said it was the worst injury he had seen in twenty years of practice. Why Because of barbed wire. Why is this evil stuff necessary Would plain wire not do the job It causes needless injury to innocent pets and wildlife whilst doing very little to prevent access to anywhere the determined want to go. Councils, parks and farmers continue to use barbed wire for what seems like no good reason, putting walkers and animals at risk. We would like to see it banned, and soon. Please sign here if you agree. We will show the petition to park authorities, councils and land owners to try to persuade them to use a safer form of fencing.
