Make BBC Entertainment English
As of the 1st January 2008, BBC Prime ceased broadcasting in Poland and in its place there will be four new channels including BBC Entertainment. For many years BBC Prime, which broadcasted in English with Polish subtitles has been a valuable learning tool for both English language teachers and learners. It was the only English language entertainment channel of its kind in Poland, and was enjoyed by many. It was also a popular channel for expatriates living in Poland. Why then has the BBC decided to broadcast the 4 new channels in Polish It makes no sense. The BBC is renowned for its great British quality and style, so why dub the programmes The answer lies simply in the fact that the BBC want to reach more viewers and ultimately make more money. However, surely they are forgetting their key viewing audience. As a result, it has already lost the majority of those who had been watching BBC Prime as a means of improving their English. We must change this. I invite you all to petition for either making BBC Entertainment English or as a last resort reinstate BBC Prime. Once we have a sufficent number of signatures, this petition will be sent to the Director-General of the BBC.
