The contract for the Burlington, MA Public Schools is up for NEGOTIATION next year (2010) and many Burlington residents would like to change the beginning of the school year to start AFTER Labor Day. This would NOT MAKE THE SCHOOL YEAR LONGER IN JUNE. Some possible proposals to change the Teacher Professional Days during the school calendar are listed below: 1. Have approximately eight half days within the school year. 2. The teachers make several school days longer and have after school meetings. 3. There are many possibilities to consider. We feel that the teachers would have the most knowledge and ideas to make the Professional Days work in everyone's best interest! WE CAN ONLY BE HEARD IN NUMBERS!!
