Life connections trustees in
Leeds have decided that after this summer holiday, the St Peters' holiday play scheme
would be closed. Our son has been going to the holiday play scheme for over 4
years now and he absolutely loves it. He has learnt so much, developed
remarkably, built friendships and relationships that have had a positive impact
on him and he is so comfortable with the staff. We have also been looking
forward to our other children attending, when they start primary school next
year. I have recommended the holiday play scheme to many of my friends who have
brought their children; they have not had one bad word to say about it as their
children love it too.
The staff are very
competent, we absolutely trust them with our son and have peace of mind when he
is there because we know that he would be well taken care of. They keep us up
to date about the activities that take place, as well as what the children were
up to during the day.
I have consulted
with some of the families affected by the decision to close the holiday play
scheme and many parents are struggling with what to do with their children
during the school holidays. There are no local holiday schemes in our area as a
result; we are very stuck for what to do. My husband and I both work full time
because we have to. It is decisions like this that make it very difficult for
working parents and sometimes makes me think and feel that working parents are at
a disadvantage, which is not very encouraging.
We want the
trustees to deeply consider the sour impact their decision to close the holiday
play scheme would have on families in the community. So please sign this
petition so that they do not close the holiday play scheme and it can continue
to run even after this summer holiday. Let us do it for our children, for
families and for our community!
This place is a lifeline for us working parents. My kids have been going for years and they love the staff so much. Where are we supposed to go now?
