The switch from Google Classroom to Oncourse Connect this year has been a difficult switch for all, as having to relearn a new program has been insufficient for everyone's learning. The truth behind Oncourse Connect is that it is simply harder to navigate in comparison to Google Classroom. Firstly, virtually every single link that we access in school is through Google, and accessing all of these links is seamless through Google Classroom. Oncourse Connect, on the other hand, has problems linking resources, opening links, and many other necessary actions for sufficient learning. Going off of this, opening a presentation or document a teacher has linked results in the student needing to download the document to their computer, fish it out of their drive, and open the download through there. Opposed to Google Classroom, the links are opened to another tab and are easily accessible. Regarding the problem of parents not being addressed with their students, the parents can monitor google classroom in the same way as Oncourse, as well as putting responsibility on the student. When you submit something on Google Classroom, your teacher would automatically recieve access to the document and you would recieve the proper credit. With Oncourse, teachers need acess granted by the student to view their documents, resulting in complications and possible zeros. These issues, along with many other not noted, is why you should sign this petition to bring Google Classroom back.
