NCFCA Competitors: we need your help. I don't know anyone remembers the days of impromptu duo, but it needs to come back. Mrs. Hudson said it was dropped from the list of NCFCA's IEs because it "doesn't help you learn any real-life skills; it's just for fun." With all due respect to Mrs. Hudson, a lot of us disagree. We can see many benefits in learning how to do a ten-minute skit within the confines of given topics and limited preparation time. In the very least, it fosters creativity, quick-thinking, and teamwork. I've done an impromptu duo a few times before, and it was more difficult to adequately prepare for that than most of my extemp speeches. If you'd like to see what I'm talking about, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXdYrKVTCCc This is a petition to bring impromptu duo back to NCFCA. Help us bring back this event!!

Mrs. Hudson is totally wrong about this. teamwork is a life skill and this is the only event that really forces you to work with a partner like that.

This event was way harder than extemp. People have no idea how much prep it actually takes to be funny and cohesive in 10 mins.

Impromptu duo was the highlight of my year. It taught me how to think on my feet better than any other event. Please bring it back!

I dont get why they want everything to be super serious all the time. Speech should be fun too. Duo was the best part of the whole weekend.
