The school administration finally reversed their choice and James is coming back to his position. My energy is completely drained from this fight but watching us force them to listen makes the long nights feel worth it. We still have to keep a close eye on how they handle things …

Final supporters
James Coleman, a Hendrickson High school AVID tutor, was just recently dismissed from his position of being an AVID tutor for high school level. James was not only a class favorite, but was apart of our AVID family. Whenever our first AVID coordinator was also dismissed, he was was there to fill the spot to allow our education to continue when no one else wanted to teach us. Now that we have a new teacher and coordinator, he has been dismissed. Not one teacher asked any of the students, including the AVID president, our thoughts. James got his job done and carried out given tasks. Although they dismissed him from the high school level, James still asked to come in the following day to tell all of his students goodbye and give us closure. Instead the AVID teachers didn't even allow him to do that. So if they're not going to give us a voice, we'll make our own. It's way more of us students than of those teachers.

The days feel long and the silence from the administration is draining but I am still here. We need to push past the two hundred and fifty mark to prove that they cannot ignore our community. Take a moment to send this link to someone who needs to see how they treated James.

If he doesn't know what he did and we don't know what he did, why would he be fired, even having the sympathy for the teacher to let him say goodbye to his students is very respectful but the fact that you didn't is very rude and I think disrespectful to the students when it happened off of short notice

I loved James he was there for me when I needed someone to talk to he, made me laugh and feel comfortable. He was the only tutor out of all that actually supported me on what I wanted to be in life
James and Christian are the only 2 AVID tutors that have been with the class of 2017 for the past 4 years. All the AVID students enjoy James's company and we have all grown to love and respect him.
I never had Mr. James as a teacher, but I have a ton of friends who did and would always speak positive things about him. I can tell a lot of students at HHS care about him, so I just want to support my friends and my classmates.
He should come back
he is a great teacher and influences students to be their best

Me and James had a rough patch but he never gave up on me just like I won't give up on him.
