The City has recently showcased a plan to relocate the Senior Center http://www.beaumontrecreation.com/best_years_center.htm from it's current location at 780 Fourth Street to a new $9.5 million facility which will be located next to the Event Centre downtown. Instead of locating and constructing a new facility downtown, we are asking you to support locating it in the vacant West End YMCA building. Currently the building has a list price of $1.25 million http://www.loopnet.com/xNet/Looplink/Profile/Profile.aspx?stid=sheriarnold&LID=17103167&LL=true&PinProfile=true&UOMListing=&UOMMoneyCurrency=&RentPer=PY&SRID=5024726650 and depending on who you talk to it needs around $1 to $3 million in improvements. With a grand total of lets say $6 million to be on the safe side that is still far less than the cost of the proposed facility. The YMCA building also has a square footage of 21,913 which is comparable to the proposed facility which is 21,000 square feet, it sits on 17.4 acres and it features a 65X70 foot pool.
