Bring HUMMER Back
This petition page was created for the General Motors brand HUMMER to be put back into production. The HUMMER brand was once one of the most iconic American car brands in the industry. To this day it is still one of the most recognizable vehicles on the road. It has been almost seven years since the last HUMMER rolled off the line in Louisiana. The HUMMER brand was the only GM brand that stood out on its own. The demise of HUMMER has left a huge void in the auto market. If you want a true body on frame 4x4 you must buy a Jeep Wrangler. Toyota also no longer makes the FJ Cruiser leaving Jeep to own the market of true 4x4 vehicles. General Motors has tried releasing off road versions of its updated version of the Colorado truck but they fall short. Customers in today’s market, are limited to cross overs, trucks, and the few body on frame SUVS that still exist. As gas prices have declined in recent years, there has been an increase in used HUMMER sales across the country. “Over the last month, auto analysts say, consumers have shown a fresh interest in the kind of SUVs — Hummers, Lincoln Navigators, Ford Explorers — that typified America’s bigger-is-better mindset of twenty years ago” (The Washington Post, 2014). General Motors recently announced it was laying workers off at their plants building small cars and sedans. This move is to increase production of its larger SUV’s and trucks. Jeep has also recently announced it will invest $1 billion into Michigan plants to begin building two brand new Jeep Wagoneer models. With today’s engines and new efficiency technology, it is the perfect time to revive the HUMMER brand. Ford recently released details to revive the Ford Bronco body on frame 4x4 SUV that was discontinued in the late 90’s. There is a large interest for body on frame 4x4 vehicles. There have been rumors about the HUMMER Hx concept being rebadge into the GMC line up. This would fail, GMC is not a off road brand and lacks the brand image HUMMER has. Thanks to anyone who has signed the petition and shared our page. Share this post and spread the word, hopefully one day a new HUMMER line up will be rolling down the road.
