Help send SSgt Jason Rolls home to his family.
Jason Rolls is a 27 year old Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He has dedicated the last 9 years to our country. He is a loving father and husband. Jason married his wife on May 7,2010. Later that afternoon, someone broke into their home, attacked his wife and then attacked Jason. Jason protected himself and his wife, he shot the intruder(which turned out to be his wife's ex-husband). Not only did his wife's ex-husband break into their home and attack them, but he violated the no contact order that was in place between the divorced couple. Jason has been indicted on a charge of manslaughter, which we feel is wrong. I've researched, I've looked at the case personally, and I can't find anything that says Jason did not have a right to protect his family from this intruder. This case has been going on for almost 2 years now, and Jason has been incarcerated for the last 7 months. Jason didn't get his speedy trial, and his request to be released due to the fact that he has not been prosecuted in the 180 days after he filed for his speedy trial has been denied. The court keeps pushing his case back, even though they have had it for almost 2 years. They recently offered him a plea deal, which he turned down. Louisiana has a "stand your ground law", which 'relieve's the home's occupants of any duty to retreat or announce their intent to use deadly force before they can be legally justified in doing so to defend themselves'. Not to mention Jason's case should fall under the Castle Doctrine and be ruled as justifiable homicide(self defense). Jason's wife and children have spent the last 7 months away from him, it's time that he gets to go home to them! Jason has the right to have a speedy trial, and he has been denied that right, and he continues to be denied that right. He deserves his day in court!!! I keep asking myself how they have had enough time to review the case and offer him a plea deal, but yet they are not prepared for trial..how can that be???!!! If you agree with me, and think that Jason Rolls should not be punished for protecting his family and himself... If you think Jason Rolls should be sent home to his family so he can continue to take care of them, and so that he can continue his career in the Air Force.. If you think he has the right to have a FAIR AND SPEEDY trial please sign my petition and pass it around. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, and could you PLEASE SHARE it with your friends so we can get as many signatures as possible!!
