In 2021 the Town of Bristol expanded its marina to the south. To protect its marina basin a deep-draft floating concrete breakwater wave attenuator was incorporated into the marina’s southern and western floats.
Since the time the marina expansion was completed, members of the Bristol Elks Lodge have noticed the wave climate in the vicinity of their commercial dock has changed significantly, due to the town marina’s wave attenuator. Waves in the vicinity of the Elks facility have dramatically increased, which is deteriorating their dock and making it difficult and unsafe to dock or berth a boat at the facility. This problem may also be impacting the Elks Lodge seawall and building structure.
With my signature below, I fully support and agree with the Bristol Lodge’s position regarding the negative impact on the Lodge docks from the new Bristol Town Marina and urge the Town of Bristol to take action to resolve this issue.

The momentum we have built makes it clear that the town can no longer ignore the destruction their poorly planned marina is causing. They refuse to acknowledge the damage to our property but this wall of support proves they cannot sweep our concerns under the rug anymore.

My husband has been trying to launch his boat there for years and now its like a washing machine. Ridiculous.
The town really didnt think this through at all. The waves are hitting the lodge hard now and everyone can see the damage happening.
Just look at the wear on the pilings. Unfair to the Elks.
TOTAL NIGHTMARE. The current is way too strong now. Town needs to pay to fix the damage they caused.
Bristol needs to take responsibility for this mess. You cant just destroy someone elses dock because you want a bigger marina.

Fix this thing before somebody gets hurt or the whole dock collapses. It was never this bad before they put that concrete wall in.
