Support Brookfield Education!
Petition to the Board of Finance The undersigned voters of the Town of Brookfield, CT support a 6% increase in spending on education next year. This is what is required for the schools to maintain current staffing and programs. We believe that the schools have been underfunded and are unable to meet the demands of the community, receiving increases of less than 4% (3.1% and 3.7%) in each of the past two years. We urge the Board of Finance to give the citizens the opportunity by referendum to demonstrate what they can and are willing to afford. By reducing the funding to anything lower than a 6% increase, the residents will be denied the ability to show their support for an education budget that sustains current programs, and enables the Board of Education to meet the expectations of the community.
