At the Big Spring School District, the school's board is considering removing the school resource officers to replace them with an on-campus security system. We, the students, parents, and community members of the Big Spring School District, stand united in our support to retain our school resource officers. The overwhelming majority of teachers and principals wholeheartedly endorse the retention of our school resource officers. Our beloved resource officers, who have forged deep connections with our students, are slated to remain with us for the 2024-2025 school year. some people don't know this but some students make friendships with these school resource officers at the Big Spring Middle School there would be no way that the old school officers will be able to pump up students like they do with our Cumberland County Sheriff's Office school resource officers. Sheriff Deputy Chelsea Nelson and Sheriff Deputy Kyle Slusher, our dedicated school resource officers, have empowered numerous students to break barriers and cultivate meaningful relationships. Both of these resource officers, who are vital to our community, must continue fostering strong bonds with every student in our school district. These connections span from little kindergarteners who are just beginning to learn, making their smiles grow, all the way up to seniors preparing to graduate.. Deputy Kyle Slusher has built such a strong connection with our graduated senior Hailey who went to Cumberland Perry Area Career Technical Center under the study of Criminal Justise. Kyle Slusher has further supported student Samantha in exploring the diverse realms of criminal justice studies. there's a long distance of a football field that our soon to be on campus security guards with our school security system will be a long shot away from the connection to the side our school resource officers have made and will not understand all of the criminal justice fields and learn all of the students because all of our school resource officers have chatted with made friends with memorized everything of our students here at the Big Spring School District memorizing all of their hobbies and what they like getting them gifts out of their own money and spending their own time with them trying to cheer students up. our school resource officers has helped our students going from mental breakdowns to just simple problems and finding solutions for each and every single student in our district. it would be hard to find the soon to be security guards for the Big Spring School District on the campus security system people just like Deputy Sheriff Kyle Slusher and deputy sheriff Chelsea Nelson to learn everything about every student and build such a strong connection to everyone.
