We the undersigned, residents of Burien, Washington do hereby request that The Washington Department of Ecology support and approve Burien’s Shoreline Master Program as submitted and approved by Burien’s City Council. Our city has undergone an intensive democratic process over six months to create a document which meets or exceeds state requirements of No Net Loss of Ecological function. Burien’s SMP is the result of extensive public involvement including: inventories, discussions, and public forums with expert testimony. The City Council’s decision is the considered result of thousands of public comments and a public hearing by our elected representatives. We urge the Department of Ecology to approve Burien’s SMP without prejudice as this is a city plan which meets all specified state requirements.
