C.A.R.E. CITIZENS AGAINST RUNWAY EXENSION!
BY THE CITIZENS AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES AND NEIGHBORHOODS OF THE ORMOND BEACH MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, TO ENSURE NO INCREASED NOISE, HEALTH, SAFETY, TRAFFIC IMPACTS AND MORE TREES DESTROYED BY THE AIRPORT.
PETITION TO DENY APPROVAL AND FUNDING FOR THE 600 FT RUNWAY EXTENSION TO WEST. Also the future 400 ft extension to the east. The signers of this document do hereby petition the City Council Members, County Board of Supervisors, State Congressional Representatives, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), that the Principals be safeguarded.
Citizens opposed the 2004 North South Runway Extension and public pressure stopped it. This time they kept it in the dark. When found out they say it is all for safety, nothing is changing. When find they want to bring in larger aircraft and more corporate jets to become an Executive airport, they say we are not bringing in commercial airliners. Let's hope not! It will be corporate aircraft between 12,500lbs and 60,000 lbs. Two or Three planes based there are 12,500 to 12,900lbs. The majority are 3,500 lbs or less with a maximum takeoff weight of 4750 lbs which only needs approximately 3200 ft runway when there is already 4004 ft there. If it was for safety and the airport had not been safe, why didn't the FAA shut them down. If it is for safety, WHY would they attempt to put the CRASH zone on 3 property owner's property. Reports stated, "the 3 property owners' were approached and are amenable to easements" when that was NOT TRUE. Never knew anything about an easement till almost a year later. Also stated, "if we get these easements we have hit a home run."
Daytona and Flagler airports are within 8 to 9 nautical miles. Noise threatens homeowner property value. We do not need the higher potential for crashes, jet fuel dumps or more lead and jet emissions.
Please, once this is done, there is not going back. If you have already signed, please do not sign again. Thank you.
