As a citizen of Carroll County, my signature below indicates my support for additional recreational facilities in Carroll County. I fully support and encourage the County to continue on with the plans to build the Krimgold Park and any other future investments in facilities or atheletic fields you may be considering. As the population of Carroll County continues to grow, there is more and more demand for both outdoor and indoor recreational facilities. The Freedom and Winfield Soccer Programs will support nearly 4,000 children this year. Football, Lacrosse and Baseball are experiencing the same high level of turnout. Without new facilities children will have to be turned down and denied a chance to live life to its fullest. With an epidemic of childhood obesity and other problems related to an inactive lifestyle, to turn away a child who wants to be active will end up costing all taxpayers more in health care costs eventually. Not to mention the positive lessons sports offers that will be lost. The Krimgold concept includes sports fields that are desparately needed for our youth as well as walking trails for the young and old who. Krimgold is the kind of investment the Commissioners should support. Indoor facilities are also not adequate to meet the demands of our community. Basketball, soccer, wrestling, volleyball, and swimming are also in much need of additional facilities. An indoor facility that is designed properly could also function as a community gathering point for emergencies and social events. Please move more aggressively to more fully meet the recreation needs of both the young and old residents of Carroll County. Thank you.
