We, the undersigned, encourage the Cedar Falls City Council to plan and vote in favor of a Main Street (6th to University Ave) reconstruction plan that accommodates bike lanes and enhanced pedestrian accommodations.
Accommodating bike lanes and enhanced pedestrian walkways supports the community's efforts to be a bike-friendly city, compliance with the Cedar Falls Complete Streets policy, while also servicing a significant population of the Cedar Falls Community.
Further, we understand that the proposed bike lanes would be used from 7am - 1pm on Sundays for parking - an accommodation that balances this short periodic need with the establishment of bike lanes.
Biking is a growing segment of the community and holds significant economic value. Remodeling Main Street with a modern design that incorporates an active and healthy lifestyle in a safe manner will increase property values, and greatly improve the appearance and safety of this corridor.
Thank you for your consideration.
I support Cedar Falls' complete streets commitment. Ensuring equal access for bikes and pedestrians to our city streets is crucial to improving our city and the quality of life of our citizens.
