Airbnb Hosts of Australia Unite. We want a fairer review system on Airbnb App. The totally unfair current review system is open for abuse. We feel guests do not understand the difference between Hotel Reviewing Vs Short Term Rental Reviewing. There is no comparison as the two types of accommodation are completely different.

We request Airbnb provide a more coherent reviewing system in which guests can complete their reviews more accurate to Short Term Rental/Bed and Breakfast accommodations.

Our suggestions:-
Remove ⭐️ Star System (which was born in early 20th Century for the Ritz Hotels of America, pompous and elegant) and replace with a ❤️ Heart/Love System... this is more emotive and conducive to the ‘Home away from Home’ accommodation style.

Remove category ratings: Cleanliness and Location. Which we believe are speculative and removes guests responsibility. eg: Location: Guests Don’t read or understand the listings actual location and rate poorly because the guest neglected to read listing details. (there is an Airbnb responsibility here too as when searching a particular suburb or area, the search shows properties within 25km if the searched area)
Cleanliness: Whilst one guest may not be offended by a hair found in the bathroom sink and offer a 5 Star rating, another guest may call disgusting filth and rate poorly.

The ‘Overall’ rating does not indicate a true experience. Guests are giving 5 Star Ratings for all categories, then a 4 Star ‘Overall’ rating.

We hope Airbnb will listen to Hosts/Owners on this matter as it is creating a ‘HOSTing Mental Breakdown’
