The school leadership has officially confirmed that the restrictive hair policy is being rescinded and students are returning to class immediately. We will monitor the implementation of these new guidelines to ensure this practice does not return in any other form.

Final supporters
As many of you are aware, The Thomas Adams School, Wem, has decided to infringe on the education of students by placing them in pastoral isolation for an undetermined period of time. For what reason? Simply, their hair has been deemed too short. It is of my, and many others, contention that the school has two critical functions: to educate (which they are currently failing to do with a select few students) and a duty of care, as laid out in Loco Parentis. If you, like me, believe these children should have the right to express themselves as they choose, and that no children in the future should be treated in this manner, then please sign this petition requesting an immediate change in the Uniform Policy. Do they deserve permanent isolation for this? You decide.

I am currently drafting a formal letter to the school board detailing the specific grievances shared by impacted families. This document will serve as our primary evidence during the upcoming meeting regarding these punitive isolation measures.

The current level of support has prompted a formal request for a meeting with the headteacher to discuss the immediate revision of the uniform policy. I am currently drafting a letter to the board of governors to ensure this issue is placed on the agenda for the upcoming term.

I do agree with some of the uniform rules put in place but I do not agree with any child being deprived of an education due to the length of their hair. during isolation they claim to help you but as teachers who are not teaching are in there to supervise you some of the teachers are not able to to the work you're doing therefore there is no help when needed.
Thomasadams care more about what we look like than our actual education, learn the difference between bad behaviour and potential bad hair cuts etc.
our daughter has been told her school trousers are jeans. Went into the school and proved they are trousers and the reply was "they are trousers but they look like jean style, so others might start wearing them" these are the same trousers she has worn for the previous year.?!?!?!
My hair is long which distracts more people then having short hair,however they don't tell me too cut it off?Grades are getting worse due to the fact we can't even express ourselves during school,yeah we are there to learn but then people don't get the right opinion of you.We should be able to make our own decisions to practice for when we live on our owns.
I personally think it is incredibly stupid to get people with short hair out of lessons and keep them down pastoral, some people have less than a 2 shaved but still look smart, it should be how smart they look and not the length of their hair if 'smartness' is what they want to 'achieve'

Good school but the uniform regulations are rediculous. No one is going to fail their gcses for short hair or piercings. A level college students don't fail their exams and they have freedom with uniform, lower school students should too.
