The role of a GAA Club is to promote Gaelic games, culture and lifelong participation. Throughout the 32 counties, GAA Clubs are so much more than a place where people play and train - they are the very heart and soul of the community.
We the undersigned players and other members of Clanna Gael Fontenoy value the community, social and cultural life of our Club which has disappeared since Covid.
We want our Clubhouse to be a warm welcoming place where our members can congregate and socialise, discuss Club matters, watch a match, celebrate a win, where adult players can meet after their training and matches, all teams can have get togethers and where we can host visitors to our Club.
We also wish to support the GAA Social Initiative to encourage older people to engage with and come back to our Club.
To this end it is our request that a Working Group with appropriate expertise be established to explore all options and avenues for the provision of a bar, food and beverage and social space in our Club for members, and the provision of social activities for our members and the wider community.

The momentum behind this push is undeniable and it proves that our members are fed up with the silence in our clubhouse. The committee can no longer pretend that this social vacuum is acceptable while we fight to bring our community back to life.

As an adult member only new to the set up I believe having the bar open would help with new joiners and build a bond between all members new and old. It’s a part of the culture of all clubs across the country. Help to get to know and build relationships.
This club is owned by the local people and when was been built people bought bricks with there own money to help raise funds.
It’s an absolute shame how this once vibrant Club has been closed and left to waste away … it was once the very hub of our great community where people were welcomed in and always a friendly place for young and old … bring back those good days again for us all to enjoy
The bar is a valued part of the community. I had both my kids receptions for there christening there. Let's get it back open
Club feels dead without the bar and hall. Great nights were had there, pub quizzes, Christmas nights etc. Real pity
Best of luck can't c why bar is not running

I really feel like the club lacks a social aspect that could actually take us to the next level - team togetherness and unity is very important and it’s potentially something we lack at the moment
