SDSU Aztec Center Building Petition
Yes, its true, San Diego State University\'s Aztec Center is ready for a make over! SDSU is looking for student feedback to determine what students want integrated into this massive building project. Given that the average lifecycle of a building at SDSU is about 50 years, your input in the project\'s design will impact hundreds of thousands of students, employees, and visitors of SDSU. This is a unique but limited opportunity to make your two cents count. Background info :: By filling out this petition, you are promoting a HIGHER STANDARD OF \"GREEN\" BUILDING (called LEED Silver Certification) to be implemented into the design of the new Aztec Center. WHY Green buliding basically equates to long-term cost savings and takes less of a toll on the environment (i.e. Green Buildings generally contain less toxic materials and use resources like energy and water more efficiently). By taking a second out of your day and filling out this petition you are 1) helping to promote a healthier indoor working environment for future occupants of the Aztec center, 2) Helping to take unnessicary economic burden off of the future SDSU Students (As electricity costs are tied to tuition rates), 3) Extending the life cycle of the Aztec Center (Saving the school more money in the long-run), 4) and most importantly reducing the ecological impact (or footprint) of the SDSU for the next fifty years or so! OFFICIAL STATEMENT :: By singing this petition, \" I am voicing my opinion that the new Aztec Center should be LEED Silver certified as specified by the USGBC and as recomended by Executive order 987. \" This building project is scheduled to begin June 2008, which means time is running out to make your voices heard. If you are an SDSU Student, Employee, or an Outside supporter (Politicians, SDSU alumni, community members, etc) Please take a moment to fill out this petition. (Very Important Please include RED ID :: to prove that you are a SDSU Student.
