The athletic department has officially reached out to offer me an interview for the coaching position. I am grateful to each of you who signed this petition and demanded transparency throughout this process. I will continue to keep you informed as the next stage of these discussions begins.

I've been Coaching since I graduated ECSU in 1990 I started as a Special Teams coach, then Offensive Line Coach as a Head COACH My record is 92-16. Undefeated for 3 seasons and 2 Championships. I truly believe that I can change that program around and bring some real VIKING LOVE TO OUR SCHOOL...I was honored by the NFL & my own school won't even give me an interview. I've been sending Players there for over 20 years.... I feel really disrespected.
Although no one is guaranteed a position, I certainly feel I deserved an interview and I am starting this petition to ask the school why I was not considered for this position.
Specifically, I am asking for ECSU to respond in writing regarding this.

The lack of response from the administration regarding a simple interview request remains disappointing. I continue to gather information about their hiring process while waiting for an official explanation. Thank you for maintaining your focus on this matter of professional accountability.

I have known Wylia's skills and capabilities since we were in high school together. She at least deserves the opportunity to interview. Give her that respect. The NFL has realized a woman's potential, why not ECSU.
Ms Slade has been the game for more than 20 years. Here is an opportunity for ECSU to be on the forefront of history by hiring the first African American women to become a winning head football coach. Times have changed.
I have been around football for quite sometime now, I believe change must come! Why not Her, Why not now! What message are we fellow Vikings sending! My name is Anthony Ford I played Free safety in 1989-92 and she was apart of our team and hearts ! I approve this message!!!
She deserves an interview and an explanation of why she was not granted an interview. Her dedication, work ethic and accomplishments speak for themselves. Her dedication as an alumnus to the sustainability of ECSU is without question.
I would be very interested in knowing why Wylia who has enjoyed coaching success at multiple levels was not even given an interview for the position at ECSU? Hopefully the school will reply to her request.
WAS my coach in HS and influenced me to attend and play for ECSU where I graduated in 2000. Give her a shot
She was my high school football coach and she sent me to Liz. She changed my life forever!

Proud to have her as a coach and a mentor. Plenty of young men could learn some important things about themselves, life and the game of football under her tutelage. You will find a scholar of the game and it's growth in her leadership.
