Petition for a Public Consultation on planned building developments in Cotgrave
We, the undersigned, understand that Rushcliffe Borough Council has offered the sum of £2m to Cotgrave Town Council for initial improvements to the shopping precinct, with plans in place for further extensive development, including the building of a supermarket. We understand that this offer is part of the Masterplan, and that this initial offer was made on the proviso that building on the former Colliery site can commence in early 2012. We further understand that at a meeting of the Friends of Cotgrave Country Park (FOCCP) on Tuesday 5th July, a unanimous decision was taken by all attendees to reject an incentive payment of approximately £250,000 for improvements to Country Park facilities, which was also made on the proviso that building on the former Colliery site can commence in early 2012. We, the undersigned, fully support the decision taken by FOCCP members; that no decisions should be taken until a proper public consultation has been undertaken with residents and business owners in Cotgrave. We request that Cotgrave Town Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council arrange for a public consultation to take place before any major decisions are taken about any developments in our village; that the results of that consultation will be made public; and that public opinion should govern any decisions subsequently taken on these and any future development plans in Cotgrave.
