COVID-19 Fears: We need to protect people using the public restrooms
The existing toilet seats in all commercial businesses, medical centers, schools, hospitals etc. are equipped with a standardized manual seat with no assistance to prevent germs and/or foreign substance(s). According to Joshua L. Santarpia, Professor of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska states; "Aerosols generated by toilets are something that we’ve known for a while, but taken for granted and that we need to take better action" and researchers have found viable virus particles as well as traces of viral RNA and COVID-19 on toilet bowls and seats. No advancement has been created to improve this area for germ protection in these highly contaminated bathrooms. Now with the COVID-19 pandemic, this is an even more urgent matter to improve these businesses and public bathroom areas for the safety of the general public. Overall, there is a common problem from lifting and setting down the seat manually that exposes the user to these germs or substances that the user has no control over this exposure and therefore, contraction and transmission of these substances can be a serious threat to your health and others’ health in the process. I am a Registered Lobbyist and seeking your support. Thank you and stay safe!
