Crossing Guard for YKQ
Mr. James P. O’Neill
Commissioner
New York Police Department
1 Police Plaza
New York, NY 10038
Dear Commissioner O’Neill,
We are turning to you as Commissioner of the NYPD who has always partnered with the community to protect the lives of its citizens. Yeshiva Ketana of Queens is an elementary school for 440 boys ages 4 to 14, located at 78-15 Parsons Blvd, Fresh Meadows, NY 11366. Every morning and afternoon there are hundreds of children being dropped off, picked up, walking to and from the school. We, the Parents of the children attending Yeshiva Ketana of Queens, are extremely concerned for the safety of our children.
The intersection between 78thAve and Parsons Boulevard is a busy thoroughfare without the benefit of an all way stop sign or a traffic light. There are so many close calls with cars speeding down the street from all directions, as children attempt to cross to and from school. We fear that it is only a matter of time before there is, G-d forbid, a serious incident.
We implore you to request the addition of an NYPD School Crossing Guard for the safety of our children.School crossing guards are found at most schools throughout the city– many of which are on streets that are considerably less active than Parsons Blvd and 78thAve. All parents should be able to send their children to school without the concern of their children reaching school safely.
We thank you in advance for your consideration of this matter – as well as for all that the NYPD does on a daily basis to keep our children and community safe.
Respectfully,
