Maximum sentence for Shelbyville Johnsons Domestic Violence Case
To Hearing Judge, Bedford County, State of Tennessee:
On July 4, 2012, David Wayne Johnson, Jr. was arrested after holding his wife hostage and savagely, brutally beating her. He raped her, held a gun to her body so tightly it left a mark; when she was finally able to run for help, after almost three days, he followed her in a vehicle and circled the place she hid until officers arrived, then fled the scene. The victim has no clothing, pictures, or personal items; Johnson destroyed it all. During the ordeal Johnson's mother, Mary Ann, and sister, Sheila Ann, came to pick up the Johnson's three children who witnessed a portion of the brutality. During their stay, Sheila slapped the victim.
It was called, by Shelbyville investigators, "The worst case of domestic violence" they have observed.
Later in July, David Johnson violated an Order of Protection when he drove past his wife's mother's house in his father's truck. This was in Smyrna. At this time his wife was out front with her children, and had to hide from him with the children while calling 9-1-1. Later, after he was arrested, his mother Mary Ann drove past the victim's mother's home in the victim's vehicle. Mary Ann was also arrested.
David W. Johnson, Jr. has proven he is a violent man who cannot obey a simple Restraining Order. He has proven he is a dangerous, unstable individual, a threat to not only his spouse, but to their children. Multiple studies have proven violent males have murdered their families after release from jail more times than in the home during a quarrel.
Mary Ann and Sheila Ann have proven their disrespect of the legal system and their own tendencies toward domestic violence; they are both threats to the safety and welfare of the victim and the children. The victim and her children need to begin the healing process and it is not possible with these women stalking this family. A life lived looking over one's shoulder; worried over safety, hoping no one is attempting to harm you or your children is not 'living'. It is 'existing' -- from one horrific event to the other.
I am signing my name below asking you to please give David Wayne Johnson, Jr., Mary Ann Johnson, and Sheila Ann Johnson the MAXIMUM punishment allowable by law when they come before you in court, scheduled for October, 2012. I ask you to show no mercy when sentencing. I ask you to put yourself in the victim's families' position: if the victim was your daughter, or a young lady you held dear, would you not want to believe justice would prevail?
