For many years, DCB has celebrated Halloween by allowing students to express themselves creatively through costumes, fostering a sense of unity, courage, and community spirit. However, the administration has recently decided to discontinue this cherished tradition. We strongly believe that reinstating Halloween free dress is essential for the following reasons:

1. It boosts school spirit and creates a happier, more engaging academic environment.
2. It encourages students to express themselves creatively and step out of their comfort zones.
3. It honors our school's long-standing respect and value for diverse cultures and traditions.

By permitting students to dress up for Halloween, we can cultivate a more positive and vibrant school atmosphere, which can contribute to enhanced academic performance and overall well-being.

As a community of global citizens, we are deeply committed to sustainability and understand its significance, as we value our planet as much as our teachers. We want to emphasize that we are not encouraging wasteful consumption of fast fashion or the use of single-use costumes. If the Halloween free dress tradition is reinstated, we will actively encourage our community members to create sustainable, reusable costumes or repurpose unused garments. We will also work together to monitor and discourage the use of one-time costumes, as we do not want to contribute to environmental deterioration like many of our counterparts around the world. It is worth noting that since other dress-up events, such as World Book Day, are already permitted, we believe that extending this practice to Halloween would be consistent with our school's values, and be no exception.

We respectfully request that the DCB administration reconsider the decision and allow students to continue this beloved tradition.
