For the past ten months, under the leadership of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) acts of violence have been committed by military police, army soldiers, and Central Security Forces (CSF) against peaceful protesters. This has resulted in tens killed and hundreds injured. Most recently, there has been a disgraceful targeting of protesters. Peaceful protesters were assaulted, beaten, detained, and killed by the Egyptian Armed forces. As Egyptians living abroad, we demand that the Egyptian Consulate in NY issue a statement condemning the SCAF and make its position clear on the current situation in Egypt. Those that are responsible for the deaths and injuries of peaceful Egyptian protesters must be held responsible and members of SCAF, no matter their rank, must be held accountable for the violations that are occurring under their leadership.
