A vast majority of college campuses across the US require students to live on campus. We have researched the costs of on/off campus living for many schools and have come to the conclusion that students pay a premium to live on campus, under the false pretense that they are offered a "wide range of social programs." Universities cite studies that claim students who live on campus perform better in their academics, however this should not be the school's decision. Not all students perform well under the same circumstances. In reality, the only thing students develop by living on campus is the financial agenda of the school they attend. Signing this petition will help to set in motion the spread of a necessary, and ultimately money-saving, message to the general public. At present, they are being forced to buy into a market that universities have monopolized, and this must be put to an end. Students do not need to be forced to pay outrageous fees to live on campus!
