The city finally abandoned the plan to pave over our neighborhood for those apartments. Olathe officials realized they could not ignore the people living here anymore. Stay alert though because we know how these developers operate when they think we are not looking.

Final supporters
The NW Corner of Indian Creek Pkwy & BlackBob in Olathe is now posted to be rezoned to build a 4-story apartment development project in a space more suited for green space to absorb rain water during heavy rainstorms. (It was 411 apartments, but it is now down to 371 apartments!) Even though the library will need to be demolished, there has to be a more sustainable and practical use of this property.
While it's hard to envision, this project will take up the NW corner of Indian Creek & Black Bob where the library currently stands, the green lot there between the library and Marco's Pizza and extend all the way west up the hill to the back of the duplexes which will cover the maintenance/old wastewater treatment facility.
This proposed project will also create a daily traffic nightmare for the existing residents in the area. Is this progress? We think not, it's cramming too much development into space not suited, or as residents made it abundantly clear, wanted in this area. Will they put in a new stoplight at Indian Creek Parkway and Blackbob? What about flooding? We understand, the City wants to sell this property, but consideration should be taken into account. Many residents attending the meeting with developers expressed their opposition to the project.

The Olathe City Council is finally feeling the heat from our movement. They think they can bulldoze this neighborhood for another apartment complex but these numbers prove we are not going anywhere.

Part of the reason I bought my house was because I liked being around the corner from a library. We lost the library which is upsetting but now putting an apartment complex in its place is foolish!!!
NO! Apartments on this land are going to be built too close to the property line of single family residences, which will violate their rights to enjoy their property and have privacy on their backyards. Also the apartments will produce to much noise as going to be build so close.
We do not need any more apartment buildings as there are several in Olathe that remain unoccupied after months to years of them being built. We need more areas for kids to play and stay out of trouble!
This space needs to be green. Too much development in a space too small for the proposed apartments. Congestion. Plus, that area is needed for proper drainage. Youre inviting flooding and damages to the area.
No apartments at Indian Creek Pkwy and BlackBob Rd. Please keep it a peaceful place for the park and less congested for children walking home from school. I'm concerned about it being too congested for all the students walking home from school. It is already a dangerous intersection and road.
We do not want this plan.
What happened to the original plan for Blackbob that has gone by the wayside?

If apartments to into this space, the many cars added to that area will cause traffic issues for local residents & the high school. We locals do NOT want apts on Black Bob! We are challenged to get out of our Yorkshire subdivision without a traffic light already! Do not let this plan happen!
