We petition the National Film Registry to add the 1988 action movie DIE HARD to their list of classic films.
Set up in 1988, the National Film Preservation Board each year selects up to 25 films for entry in the National Film Registry, where they are preserved in the Library of Congress for all time. Classic films like STAR WARS, CITIZEN KANE and 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY have already been selected. More modern films like FARGO, GROUNDHOG DAY and TOY STORY have made it on the list, too. To be eligible, a film must be at least ten years old and be “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
Upon looking through what has been selected, there is one glaring omission: DIE HARD.

We must join together and let the board who chooses what films are selected know that DIE HARD should be recognized. It is a classic film that has stood the test of time and has influenced a generation's worth of films. It has become part of pop culture and is celebrated by many.
