Mt Warren Park will be divided in two if a new Logan City Council boundary submission to the Queensland Electoral Commission is approved.

The submission is open for review and objections until 18 September.

If approved, Mt Warren Park would be divided along Mt Warren Boulevard. One half would fall under Division 12, the other under Division 4. This has potential to add a great deal of confusion to residents, as well as misrepresentation at a local government level.

Mt Warren Park’s needs are much more similar to the residential Beenleigh region – Division 12 - than the more rural parts of the old Beaudesert Council area which makes up Division 4. In the future, the growth of Logan’s western suburbs is expected to far surpass that of the east. Therefore, ensuring all of Mt Warren Park is inside Division 12 – along with Beenleigh, Holmview and Eagleby – is of utmost importance to ensure all residents receive local representation that is relevant to their needs and the needs of local businesses, schools and community groups.

This petition aims to ensure Mt Warren Park is not a suburb divided. The petition will be lodged before close of business on 18 September.
