Final supporters
The City of Manassas planning commission just approved to rezone the area next to Round Elementary from R2 (single family homes) to R3 (town-homes).
We as a community have the following issue with this rezoning:
* This rezoning does not fit with the 30+ year old established surrounding communities. If the city really wanted this they would have rezoned this area during the latest comprehensive plan.
* it sets a dangerous precedent that adjacent lots can be sold and reformed into town-houses
* The current zoning of R2 already allowed for multiple single family detached homes to be built, the only reason for R3 is greed
* There are already town houses not far away at Cannon Branch, Some near Grace Methodist church, and across from All Saints church.
The next step is for a public hearing in front of City Council. Please sign this petition so that on December 14, 2020 we can bring it before them and let them know that the residents surrounding this area do not approve.

No to the rezone as not part of comprehensive plan. Also squeezing 28 townhouses on the five acres will increase vehicle traffic tremendously on the corner and suspect traffic lights will be needed at the intersection. This is not in the public's best interest,vote no!
Seems like an odd place to squeeze in a group of townhomes. There are no other townhomes along Hastings Road in Manassas w/in 2 miles. It's all single family residences.
How does this decision assist our lower income and most vulnerable residents? History shows that increased density actually increases public cost, hurting our working class families the most and sending them further away from good jobs. I don't understand how this decision helps those who need the most help.
I do not approve of the overcrowding this development will bring, and the lack of a road-study and environmental study prior to this plan being adopted and this design is out of place in an established single-family-home area. Please vote NO to the rezoning request and the project.
there is no need to put 28 town homes directly behind a children's elementary school. My daughter and I enjoy walking the cut through to the elementary school or just to walk down hastings because there's no sidewalk to get to hastings from winged elm.
Established neighborhoods do not owe their neighbors profit at their expense. Zoning exists to protect all, not just the developers and would be land sellers.
Allowing this property to be rezoned for townhomes is a against the very reason we purchased a home in the neighboring community. This change is contrary to the community that this property is near and will create chaos among a peaceful and beautiful area. Please vote NO regarding rezoning.

Adding townhomes to this piece of land will lead to lots of commercial vehicles and overflow parking out into Godwin RD. The developed always choose to build more homes and do not include enough parking spots for residents and visitors.Ot will cause traffic issues. Will also lead to adding 2-3 traffic lights on Godwin.
