With the searing heat waves, lack of rainfall, stock starving and dying in paddocks from lack of food and water and from heat stress, farmers are really struggling at the moment. They are also struggling as the stock markets have fallen to very low prices for sheep and cattle markets, which means their incomes have also fallen but the costs have risen for those who need to buy food (ie hay/grain/roughage) and/or water for their livestock to keep them in a healthy condition or forward store condition, as well as drench/worming/vaccination products (to manage and/or prevent mortality, worm infestations, lice/tick infestations, disease etc), basic farm running expenses such as fuel, morgages, LHPA and property rates, salt/mineral blocks for livestock, transportation costs of feed, agistment costs for those who have ran out of feed, NLIS and eartags, etc. Farmers arealso struggling for every day basic living expenses such as food, electricity, phone, power and healthcare expenses. Support your farmers who provide many products for the community such as jobs, meat, wool, milk, fruit, vegetables, grain products (ie wheat and other grains & cereals to make food products such as bread, cereals etc) and many other things, who are the backbone of the Australian economy.

I spent the entire morning reading the stories you left here and they hit home because I know these families are being pushed to the brink. My own fences are barely holding up and seeing the reality of these paddocks across the country is heartbreaking. I am currently reaching out to regional representatives to demand they acknowledge the gravity of this crisis.

Seeing this level of support brings tears to my eyes because I know firsthand how much our families are suffering on the land right now. This groundswell of care confirms that people truly understand the desperate reality our farmers face every single day. We are finally being seen.

We need to keep our farmers alive and well. Without our farmers our food supply stops. Without our own food supply we are then hostage to those that do control it. Look after our people first so our country is healthy enough to be able to continue to offer support to others.
We look outside our door ever day at the devastation this drought is causing. Having to put down cattle is not nice. Watching cows struggle to fee their calves and have enough energy to move around the paddocks to find feed is depressing. Help or not we will push on, the only question is how much we will have when help finally comes. We are losing this battle and need help NOW not next month. Farmers feed the nation, we are PRIMARY PRODUCERS its just a pity we aren't a primary concern for the government.
So much feed on the now not used stock routes could be cut and sent up to the drought affecte d stock or even bring them here and eat it down AND CLEAN UP 1. THE FEED 2. FIRE HAZARD. THE ROADSIDE........and help thee Farmers win win all round.d
My daughter faces a daily struggle to keep their cattle alive and is losing the fight. Central Queensland needs assistance!!
30 station horses from the Cloncurry area were shot on Friday instead of starving to death. So sad, our farmer need help desperately, how come flood victims get help but in this severe drought the farmers seemingly get nothing.
It is getting more and more stressful as this continuous dry spell continues, having to feed cattle, money to feed them is coming harder by to feed them, costs are going up in price, trying to keep other bills paid and farmers with young families are all now starting to struggle, not mention cattle are not worth anything!!!! If us farmers don't get help soon, there won't be beef and other wonderful products that farmers produce! Just remember, without us farmers there won't be food on the table!!!!!!
Mr Abbott this country you now have the privilege of leading was founded on the back of farmers, it is time that the people we elect to represent us do the job they are payed for and properly serve the people in rural areas , you won,t get a second chance.

Bring back the interest subsidy for those of us struggling with mortgages and low cattle prices and enormous fuel prices to keep water up to the cattle with dry dams and little feed.
