Allow M2's to use the new HSB for STEP Studying
Since the beginning of the academic year, admin has been putting pressure on us to be productive in our STEP studying due to the decrease in pass rate from last year. Part of what we deem, as students, would make an immense change on how effective our studying is would be having access to good facilities to study in.
For those of us living in Center City/South Philly, the commute to the QL campus seems incredibly unproductive. A thirty minute bus ride one way + walking time cutting into daily study makes this seem impractical, especially since the QL study spaces were very oversaturated last year during dedicated as we, as M1's were also competing for the spaces available.
The alternative suggested to resolve this problem by admin was to use the NCB in Center City. However, with countless emails regarding shut-downs for repairs, faculty testimonials, cockroach infestations & recent rat sightings, it does not seem like a healthy choice to spend prolonged periods of time here.
By having access to the HSB, even just a small space/common spaces, we would not impinge on the spaces allocated for the current students using the building, commute times would be reduced, and students would have a proper place to study with out health hazards. Also, our tuition made a significant contribution to the construction of the building, yet most of us would never get to step foot in the new building until our Match Day in 2025.
We are asking admin to please reconsider their decision on not allowing us access to the building as this would greatly improve our STEP studying schedules.
