ARU students want e-submission
Electronic submission of work was voted, by the student body, as the highest priority campaign in the opinion poll 2009, coming above a campaign against the increase in tuition fees and a campaign to improve the catering facilities on all campuses. Tuition fees and facilities in general have been hot topics for a number of years, and we will continue to campaign on these, however it suggests that e-submission is a very a high priority. Research shows that a number of Universities already deal with e-submission including , University of Sheffield, Bath University, University of Birmingham, Kinston University and, of course, the Open University. A survey of over 50 lecturers at Anglia Ruskin University found that over 70% were in favour of electronic submission, with over 65% believing it would enhance the overall student experience. One of the values of Anglia Ruskin University details that concern for a sustainable environment is to inform every aspect that they do. Electronic submission of assignments would undoubtedly work in line with this value from two different angles, the first being travel emissions and the second being paper wastage.
