This petition is to show support for the immediate construction of a new skate park at Easton's Beach in Newport, R.I. The existing park suffers from major design flaws, has become unsafe due to disrepair and is in need of a complete reconstruction. There is a huge demand for public areas for skateboarding, and this space is not being utilized due to these issues. The City of Newport is making steps towards building a park designed by skaters, that will see far more use than the existing park ever has. This project needs the support of local residents to get underway in the near future.
